Day 12…

This one has really helped me…

Yesterday we talked about getting up early to get a productive start to your day.

But, what’s the first thing that pretty much everyone does when they first get up?  They check their PHONE! (or email or computer, etc.)

However, when we check our phone/computer for messages, emails, and texts, what are we really doing?

The answer is that we’re giving up our personal power and immediately and automatically bending to someone else’s requests.  In other words, you’re becoming part of someone else’s agenda, not yours.

For example, in our line of work, what is likely to be waiting for you in an email first thing in the morning?  You know it…it’s probably going to be last-minute changes to today’s schedule requested either by your clients or your staff.

So, what do you do?

You go nuts trying to rearrange things, don’t you?

This means that the very first thing that happens to you when you get up is stress, anxiety, and a feeling of panic.

The solution to all this is to NOT look at your computer or your phone when you get up.  In fact, don’t look at any of that until your “office hours” officially begin for that day.

If your office officially opens at 8am and you get up at 6, you have two full hours to get stuff done without being burdened by the stress and anxiety of the day’s demands.

I know this sounds crazy and you may even be thinking “I could never do that.”

But, trust me.  You CAN!

Later in the Challenge we’ll get into exactly how to handle this from a business perspective.  For now though, just go with me on this and trust that everything will still work out every single day even if you’re not being a slave to your clients 🙂
